Welcome to the NEMBC campaign site for Value our Voices—a campaign to increase funding for community broadcasting. The campaign is being run jointly by the NEMBC, Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, Community Broadcasting Foundation, Radio for the Print Handicapped, Australian Indigenous Communications Association and Australian Christian Media.
The campaign is directed at both the Coalition and the ALP—we need the next federal government to commit to provide substantially more funds for community broadcasting. The sector has asked for $16.8m in addition to the current $8.1m (a total of $24.9m). For ethnic community broadcasting the main issues are:
- * The per-hour program content funding (an extra $1.9m, to bring funding up to 1996 levels: the per hour rate has dropped from $48 in 1996 to $35 this year).
- * Ethnic broadcasters need more than $200,000 (similar to the funding for the now defunct Australian Ethnic Radio Training Project) for ethnic specific training from the pool of $2.8m that the sector is seeking.

Their addresses are on the letters or you can send them to Parliament House, Canberra, 2600. Please feel free to adapt the letter and use your own words—the more personal you make the letter the more likely it is that the politician or the advisor will read it.
