Funding for Ethnic Communities

CBF
The Community Broadcasting Foundation provides three kinds of funding for community language broadcasting. There are two funding rounds each year.

Refugee and Emerging Communities Start-up Grants
The CBF offers a one-off grant of up to $1,500 for emerging communities and refugee groups to broadcast in community languages. The funds are to help groups establish their resources, purchase broadcasting materials like CDs and tapes, purchase equipment such as portable recorders, fund transport costs, internet costs etc.

Ethnic Programming Grants
Funding in this category is for groups who are broadcasting. Programs need to be at least 50% spoken word and provide news and information to the community. Funds are given on a per hour of broadcasting basis.

Training
The Australian Ethnic Radio Training Project offers accredited training in radio broadcasting and production to ethnic broadcasters. Stations can apply for a grant to host a course at their station. Currently there are three rounds a year. More information on the AERTP can be found on the NEMBC main website training section

For further information about eligibility and dates of funding rounds visit the CBF website: www.cbf.com.au or call them on 03 9419 8055
