After a decade of providing thousands of ethnic broadcasters with nationally accredited training, government funding for the AERTP has ceased, but the training will be available in a slightly different way.
Most of the training resources will continue to be available to our members free of charge. Individual stations will need to employ suitable trainers. Payment for trainers is possible through the CBF (www.cbf.com.au) and curriculum under the National Training Program (NTP) is available from the same site. The NEMBC may be able to assist with this through our national database of trainers.
Stations considering training should also contact a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) - see details of RTOs below.
The NEMBC training material is copyrighted, but may be freely used by members of the NEMBC for the training of ethnic broadcasters so long as the training is provided free of charge. Please note that the NEMBC training material comprises the former AERTP program.
Priority will be given to training that:

Flexible training is available through face to face, online, distance education etc. depending on your station needs and arrangements made with the RTO and an accredited trainer/assessor of your choice. The trainer/assessor must be registered with your chosen RTO.
Allowable expenditure includes trainer/assessor fees, stationery, printing, travel subsidies, training resources, consumables etc.
Guidelines
Applications
Broadcast Training grants require stations to have an agreement with a Registered Training Organisation about training delivery. There are a number of steps involved in this process, so you will need to contact your RTO at least three weeks before the application closing date.
(a) Determine your training needs.
(b) Contact an approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that is accredited to deliver radio broadcasting units from the Film, Radio, Television and Multimedia Training Package (CUF01). You may wish to choose a community broadcasting sector-based RTO as listed below, or search for one on the National Training Information Service website http://www.ntis.gov.au.
Funding
A maximum of $2,000 plus GST is available for a single short course of 4 units. Applications for less than 4 units should be calculated at a rate of $500 per unit. The grant can be spent according to the station's needs and under arrangements made with the RTO and trainer/assessor.
Stations that do not have access to a qualified trainer/assessor within 50km of their station may also apply for an additional amount of up to $300 per application to assist with the costs of transport and accommodation of the trainer/assessor.
Stations can apply for up to $20 per trainee from the priority groups outlined above, to assist with their transport, to a maximum of $200 per application.
Additional travel/accommodation costs may be considered in special circumstances, in which case please provide details and justification of the amount requested. Applications will be considered by the Training Grants Advisory Committee on a case by case basis.
