An update from the General Manager
It’s been a busy and productive month at the NEMBC!

We kicked off March with a Board Meeting in Brisbane, where we had the pleasure of being hosted by 4EB the night before.

They treated us to an incredible feast and a tour of their fantastic facilities. It was inspiring to meet some of the dedicated volunteers who bring such passion and energy to ethnic broadcasting in Brisbane.

We also recently had the opportunity to visit 3ZZZ in Melbourne, where we saw
ethnic broadcasting in action and connected with the incredible broadcasters who
make multilingual community radio thrive. Seeing both these stations’ work first
hand reinforced the vital role that community radio plays in keeping cultures and
languages alive.

On the recruitment front, we recently completed interviews for the Membership &
Engagement Coordinator role and were fortunate to meet a strong pool of
candidates. We’re excited to welcome Chad Phillips to the team! Chad brings
great enthusiasm and a deep commitment to the sector, and we look forward to
his contributions.

Our focus has also been on finalising the program for the annual conference.
We’re almost there. Keep in mind that we’re still making a few final tweaks to the
program, but we’re thrilled with how it’s shaping up. Stay tuned for more updates
as we get closer to the event!

Yours in community,

Marianne Wangira
General Manager, NEMBC

Welcome to the Team – Chad Phillips, your new Membership & Engagement Coordinator
Hi everyone,

I’m so excited to join the NEMBC team as your new Membership & Engagement
Coordinator. With over 20 plus years in community and sports media including
time at stations like SYN 90.7 FM, 3SSR Swinburne Student Radio, RMITV, C31,

Communications. I’m passionate about supporting great content and the people
behind it.

Most of all, I can’t wait to get to know you, our amazing members. Whether
you’re from a big station or a small community group, I’m here to listen, help, and
make sure the NEMBC is giving you the support you need.

At the NEMBC, we’ll work together to lift up underrepresented voices and create
even stronger ethnic and multicultural media across Australia.
