An update from the General Manager
As we settle into 2025, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of our multicultural broadcasters across Australia. Your dedication to ensuring all voices are heard and sharing stories that matter is what makes community media so powerful.
At NEMBC, we are committed to strengthening our sector through advocacy, innovation, and practical support. This month we are working on our strategic plan, ensuring our vision aligns with the evolving needs of our members and communities. We’re also thrilled to announce the return of the Ethnic Broadcaster – a much loved publication that will be relaunched in July under a fresh new name, so stay tuned!
We are also working hard behind the scenes to bring you an amazing NEMBC Conference in May. This will be a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate the impact of multicultural community broadcasting. More details will be shared soon, so watch this space!
Additionally, we are actively building strong partnerships that will create greater opportunities for our members, from training and development to new funding and broadcasting initiatives. We’re also seeing an increase in projects where we can distribute translated government campaign content through our broadcasters, ensuring communities receive critical information in their own languages.
I encourage you to stay connected, share your insights, and be part of shaping the future of multicultural media. If you haven’t yet joined our NEMBC Members Facebook Group, it’s a great place to exchange ideas, celebrate successes, and discuss challenges with fellow broadcasters across the country.
Thank you for your passion and commitment – let’s make this year one of growth, impact, and stronger connections.
Yours in community,

Marianne Wangira
General Manager, NEMBC
