Dear NEMBC Member, Producer or Subscriber,

We are requesting your help to make the community and employers in your community aware of the benefits of employing our ex-military service people.

In this 8-part series, we have recorded interviews with four successful ex-service people that have built on their service to Australia and have made significant contributions to civilian workplaces. These have been developed with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, as part of the Veteran Employment Program.

You can download the full series and transcripts here

If you like these interviews, your listeners might find them engaging too.

We ask that you listen to them and consider them for insertion into appropriate programs (and/or social media).

Australia’s ex-service people and their families have made valued and enduring contributions to our country. However, moving to civilian employment can be challenging as many employers may not understand the skills that are built whilst in the ADF.

Many ex-service people may also not be aware of the value they can bring to an organisation.

Inspiring employers to consider hiring ex-service people is essential if we are to support our veterans maximise their work potential, while giving their organisations a competitive edge.

How you can help support our ex-service people?

As broadcasters with extensive community and employer networks, we know that you are able to make a significant contribution in motivating your community to employ veterans.

Hosted by Simon Marnie (a founding member of FBi Community Radio and former ABC broadcaster), these engaging interviews tell 4 compelling stories:

· Kahlil Fegan, former Army Brigadier, now Repatriation Commissioner and of Lebanese background

· Tom Nguyen, former Army Captain, now management consultant, and of Vietnamese background

· Bill Skandalakis, former RAAF Corporal and aircraft mechanic working on Hercules aircraft, now IT specialist, and of Greek background

· Angela Green, former RAAF serving member, now Head of Operations and Enterprise Risk, WestPac Group, and who speaks Indonesian.
